Asian Gourmet Cousine
combines a top class design salon with a Thai restaurant. Located in the center of Prague, on the historical crossroads of Jewish, Old and New Towns, it is a junction of cultures, where East and West, architecture and design, fashion and styles meet.
Arzenal was conceived and designed by the renowned architect and artist Borek Sipek, who has been commissioned to create such highly prestigious buildings as the Kyoto Opera in Japan or the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld's shop in Paris.
Borek Sipek's art pieces can be found in such collections as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museum for Decorative art in Paris and Lyon, Design Museum in London, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, national Museum in Prague, Kunst Museum in Duesseldorf, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York or Museum for Decorative Art in Prague. In 1992 Vaclav Havel, the President of the Czech Rebublic, invited Borek Sipek to be responsible for all architectural changes and adjustments to the symbol of Czech statehood, the Prague Castle.
Sipek's objects have been presented by president Havel to numerous heads of state, for example Bill Clinton or the Dutch queen Beatrix to name just two. Borek Sipek's art is however not admired by presidents and kings alone.
Arzenal design salon allows every guest to appreciate a full scope of Borek Sipek's genius - architecture, glass and furniture design - while putting its funcionality to test sampling Thai gourmet food. All objects in Arzenal, from the chairs to the silverware, are Sípek's creations.
The atmosphere, extravagant designs, colors and flavors of Arzenal have already lured thousands of visitors, including the chess champion Garry Kasparov or movie stars Anthony Hopkins, Wesley Snipes and others. Come see, touch and taste for yourself!
Design Salon
design salon and restaurant located in the very heart of old Prague, a few steps from the Jewish quarter, offers tempting culinary specialties in the style of the Thai royal kitchen.
Tasting delicacies like TOM YUM KOONG soup (shrimp in clear soup with Thai herbs, feferony, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms) or KHANG KHOW WAN (beef, pork, chicken or tofu meat in curry sauce with coconut milk, bamboo shoots, sweet basil leaves, mushrooms, chillies), you are up for a great surprise.
In the restaurant's interior created by the world-famous designer Borek Sipek, you can purchase and right away take home every of his designs including the cutlery, glasses and plates, the table you dined at or the comfortable chair you sat on. Borek Sipek is a lover of Thai cuisine and sometimes he takes up the role of a chef himself. Therefore, this bold and unusual project that originated in his artistic workshop presents the spirit of the traditional eastern philosophy, where dining is a part of lifestyle and food must be pleasing not only to the taste, but also to the eye.
