The rhythmic and gentle roar of the glass- ovens, the flames lapping against its walls accompanied by the ringing of steel tools can be soothing at times. The surrounding atmosphere of glassworks, combined with precise movement and serious thought and skill, help to create these beautiful fragile objects. The scarred and burned hands of the glassworkers along with their sweat- stained shirts clearly illustrates that this is no easy job, however, it is often very beautiful and fulfilling. The glass workers also display a great sense of humor that can make light of any problematic situation. Sometimes their jokes are crude and straight-forward but they always hold some truth, just as the glass-workers themselves.
The Ajeto glassworks can really be viewed as one large family which has formed over the years. Not all of these years were easy ones. The original eight glass-workers that decided to enter into a long and challenging glass venture in the early 90’s, have since grown to over thirty glass-masters. All of them working around the heart of the glassworks, a six pan high temperature glass oven heated by natural gas. Night after night the glass smelting team prepares new glass, if not only the traditional crystal but also five other colors, blue, red, green, amber, and opaque white.
This large palette of base colors and the unique possibility of combining them is a distinctive characteristic of the Ajeto glassworks that has not changed over all the years. This, however, does not mean that the glassworks refuse to work with other colors, quite the contrary actually; very often other special colors like purple, lime or aquamarine are melted at the client’s request.

One of the most important parts of the glassworks is all the technical and preparatory work, done by the 30 or so glassworkers. They usually work in teams of three of four led by a skilled master. It is important to note that besides their universally applicable skills they each also bring forth unique and original capabilities for any specific kind of assignment. It is therefore easier to choose the right team for the job, whether it’s precise glass-blowing for large orders, small delicate orders, or large scale unique objects. In each of the disciplines the Ajeto glassworks is capable of finding the best combination to satisfy the customer. Ajeto has always been a haven of bright colors and intriguing shapes of glass, and above all a unique workspace and atmosphere where for years people from all over the world have met to create these stunning fragile beauties.
